One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Stewardship: Time, Talent and Treasure
As many of you know, this is the time of year when we ask everyone to consider their giving for the following year and to make a pledge to the church. This is an important process for two reasons. First, giving is a spiritual matter. It is a response to the blessings that God has bestowed upon us. Second, our budget is based upon the pledges we receive. The ministry we provide is entirely dependent upon your giving. But stewardship is more than money. It is also about your time and talent as well. So we ask that you prayerfully consider your commitment to Church of the Holy Apostles in each of these areas.
Stewardship of Time
Stewardship begins with the care of and sharing the gift of time. Time is one of the most precious possessions we have. How we spend our time is perhaps the clearest indication of our progress in a life of Christian discipleship. Time once spent can never be recovered. God gives us the present as a gift to use as good stewards. It means seeing our lives, 24 hours each day, as an opportunity to serve the Lord and to build up the Kingdom.
Are you involved in a small group or Bible study? Spending time with other Christians and in the Bible will greatly enrich your life and grow you as a disciple! Contact Trish Thompson at trish@holyapostles.cc to see where you can plug in.
Stewardship of Talent
Stewardship of talent means nurturing, developing and using the God-given abilities and gifts which define us as unique individuals. Talents are special blessings each of us has received from a loving Creator who values us as part of His ongoing creation. When we volunteer to work for our parish or help our neighbor, we share “who we are” for the good of others.
What are your gifts? Are you involved in a ministry? Do you need to change ministries and try something else? How about serving at a different service? Contact Trish Thompson at trish@holyapostles.cc to review/change/add ministries to your profile.
Stewardship of Treasure
Almost half of Jesus’ parables mention money or material possessions: the lost coin, the widow’s mite, the buried treasure in the field, the rich young man, and the Good Samaritan. Stewardship of treasure is not about giving to a need, but a need to give. Stewards are Christ-centered rather than self-centered. It is important for us to share what we have because all good things God has made are meant to be shared. It is how we give thanks to a loving God for the many blessings we have received. Giving is a faith response. The response of a faithful disciple.
We are asking you to prayerfully consider a pledge for 2012. We pray that you seek His guidance and what He is calling you to give so that we can continue God’s work here at COTHA. Please fill out the enclosed pledge card and bring it to church during one of the October 29-30 weekend services. We will collect the cards as part of worship and we will offer them to God for His blessing. If you cannot be in church that day, you may mail the pledge card to us.
Thank you for your stewardship in building God's Kingdom through COTHA. Your gift will be used to reach others for Christ and to make disciples. For those of you that have not experienced the blessings of stewardship, give it a try. You can not out give God. (Malachi 3:10)
For your convenience, we also have a pledge form below with which you can submit your pledge online.
