The series on “Lost and Held Hostage” concludes.  We were taught at an early age to always tell the truth.  But, the world is such a difficult place that sometimes we bend the truth and tell little “white” lies.  Does it really matter?  Can little white lies actually make us lose our way?  Doesn’t God just wink at the little fibs we tell one another or should we be careful lest we find ourselves held hostage by even little lies?

As we continue our series on “Lost and Held Hostage” we turn our attention to one of the most typical ways we lose our focus and direction: anger.  While anger is a natural and healthy emotion, sometimes it can grow to the point where it overwhelms us. God tells us, through the Word, that we are to master it:  Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”  Genesis 4:6-7 How do we master anger?

This weekend we will examine one of the most difficult things that keeps us lost and held hostage.  We rarely want to admit it, but so many of us struggle with hangups and habits.  How do you overcome those things that hold us hostage but we’re too embarrassed to even talk about them?  How can we become truly free when we have habits that threaten to destroy us?

We are honored to hear the testimonies of three of our senior students. As they graduate, we know of their hopes and dreams. Knowing that they will face challenges how do we trust them to God without being overwhelmed by fear and worry? Following their presentations we will see that worry binds us and we can trust our children, ourselves, our loved ones and our future to a God who will never abandon us.
